M8/XR8 Tips for Use

Earphones don’t connect to device, or earphones are not detected by device

  • Check if the earphones are still connected to a previous device. If so disconnect them from the device first, then reconnect to the new device

  • Make sure both earphones are powered on if using them in Stereo Mode, or one of them is on if using it in Mono Mode

Only one earphone has sound

Your left and right earphones are paired at the factory so there is no pairing to be done at user level. When only one earphone has sound, it could be because:

  • one of the earphones is not powered on: make sure you switch on the one that has no sound by pressing and holding the centre for 3 seconds until you hear an engine start sound

  • one of the earphones has run out of battery: charge it and try connect again

  • your earphones are in Mono Mode, to change it back to Stereo Mode, do a System Reset

Earphones don’t charge

  • Check and make sure the earphones are placed snugly in the charger’s slots and if necessary, slightly adjust their positions so that the charging pins are in perfect contact with the earphones’ metal contacts

  • Remove the D Loop if necessary

  • Check that the battery case’s battery is not empty

  • Make sure the USB cable is attached securely to both the power source and the charger when charging

  • Make sure there is no dirt or ear wax on the charging pins or the earphones’ metal contacts. If there is simply clean it with a soft dry cloth

Earphones don’t automatically switch off when placed in the charger

These earphones are designed such that when put back into the charger the following actions take place automatically in such sequence:

  • Earphones’ power will be switched off

  • Bluetooth will be disconnected from device

  • Earphones will start charging if there is enough power in the charger

Therefore if the earphones don’t switch off and continue to play after being placed in the charger for a few seconds, slightly adjust the earphones positions and press them slightly so that they are in good contact with the charger’s pins to initiate the above actions. Remove the D Loops if necessary

The charger cannot detect the earphones when it has not enough power and therefore will not initiate the above actions. Please make sure there is some power in the charger by plugging it into a USB source and charging it for at least 15 mins, and try again to see if the earphones will now switch off automatically

Sound is poor

Make sure you choose the right ear tips for best sound quality. This means the largest possible size that will fit your ears, because if you choose ear tips that are too small, sound leakage will occur resulting in poor sound with loss in bass and punch. This is especially important when using Comply foams

Unstable or bad wireless connection

Make sure the earphones and your mobile phones are not operating in an area with crowded or strong 2.4GHz signals, such as microwave, other bluetooth devices and wifi routers

In places where persistent interference occurs, for example at a particular treadmill in the gym, it could be because there is a strong wifi router nearby. Try to move to another treadmill or location away from where you experienced the persistent interference. You may also try put the phone closer to the earphones for example on the table instead of in your jacket, to maximise reception

Bluetooth signals travel in straight line and do not go through walls and solid surfaces. If you are experiencing bad connections please try to make sure the device is the line of sight, or if that is not possible, position your device closer to your earphones such as placing it on the same side as the master/right earphone

Cannot manually switch off earphones

Manual switching off is activated by pressing and holding the right earphone for 5 seconds or more FROM PAUSE MODE. If you are playing music and do the above, it will skip to the next track instead. Make sure you first press the left or right earphone once to pause the music, then press and hold the right earphone for 5 seconds until you hear a car door closing sound. Both earphones are now switched off

System Reset

Most potential issues can be easily resolved with a system reset. Please follow these simple steps:

If the earphones are still connected to a device, disconnect and switch them off first by pressing the right earphone for 5 seconds until you hear a melody beep (XR8) or car door shutting sound (M8)

From this OFF position, hold both left and right earphones and put them close to each other. Touch and hold the centre of BOTH EARPHONES TOGETHER FOR 10 SECONDS then release them

Now go the the device’s bluetooth list and you should see your earphones (XR8 or M8), select it and within a few seconds you should hear a connection confirmation sound (one beep on XR8, or one car horn sound on M8). The reset is now complete and your earphones should function as normal
